In the past, if you owned an American Quarter Horse you could count on several things. Among them were: Soundness, Versatility, Bone and a quiet, sensible Disposition. But with specialization came compromise. When we were looking for a breeding stallion, we wanted to go back to the Quarter Horse basics, yet keep a "modern look" to our babies. We had decided that the timelessness of the Skipper W bloodline was what we needed and we were forturnate to find Skip Sun Tan.
Sunny stands 15.2h and is a golden palomino with lots of "chrome". He is double registered with AQHA and PHBA. From four limited crops for us (we were not able to purchase him outright until 2001) he has sired 6 palominos, 5 chestnuts ( 1 liver, 2 with flaxen manes and tails), 2 blood bays, 1 buckskin and 1 gray. Two of his sons are standing at stud, one in Arizona and one in Illinois. He throws color and bone and above all sweet, tractable dispositions. His foals are born looking for humans and they "partner-up" from day one. The Skipper W bloodline is the perfect cross on Zippo Pine Bar mares. Prior to our purchase "Sunny" stood for a private breeder who bred very few outside mares. We are looking forward to introducing Skip Sun Tan to the public for the 2003 breeding season.
